AI as a Neutral Party
Every meeting has the same problem: the loudest people decide. The agenda drifts, or gets guarded so tightly that the good off-agenda idea never surfaces. Feedback forms, polls, anonymous surveys โ they're the current tools of the silent, and they're all after-the-fact.
The idea
"An AI in the meeting. It's like a live form. You talk to it and express raw opinions and views โ and it can help put our silent people's power on the screen to guide the meeting."
An AI as neutral party: it can intervene when a discussion runs too long or drifts too far. You speak to it privately, in your own interface; it surfaces the room's real state on a common screen. Not to constrain the group, but to give it a truthful mirror โ including, when it's working, the insight that something good is coming from this deviation, and the agenda should bend.
The open questions
- Everyone has different thresholds for deviation. Who decides when drift is waste and when it's gold? The loudest? A vote? The AI's read of the room?
- What does neutral even mean โ no stakes, no history, no face to save?
- And the deeper freedom it requires: 100% privacy for the raw input. People self- censor the moment recording feels like an event. It must feel like thinking.
I keep returning to two words from that note: read the room. Humans are bad at it when power is on the line. That's the gap. That's the product.
